impressions
Living on a farm was something I had already been dreaming about in my younger days! Breeding sheep in New Zealand, cultivating vegetables and wine at an old rustico in Sizily or at least living with dogs, cats, chicken and sheep in the Prignitz in the eastern part of Germany... . During the years I lost this dreams, but now a lot of it seems to come true at our place here.
About 80 olive trees, 20 fruit trees, lots of bushes with berries and nuts and myriads of vegetables and flowers - not to talk about our dogs, cats and the chicken gang and all the voluntary guests like turtles, lizards, butterflies, bees and birds - that's quite a lot of "farm". And it keeps us on our toes the whole day and gifts us with a life according to the rhythm of nature.
Winter
Cosy days and evenings in front of the fireplace, playing games, knitting, trying out new cooking recieps, creativ thinking, time for all that could be improved inside of the house... but also a lot of beautiful sunny days when you can enjoy the sun's kiss on your face.
Spring
Time to sow the seeds, to plant seedlings and to watch them grow, realizing plans from the winter time, savouring mild spring days with their tempting fragrances, long walks at the still lonely beaches.
Summer
Beeing the early bird - because there are many things to do which become quite exhausting after ten o'clock, a peaceful siesta in a hammock sheltered by the shadow of the olive trees, a refreshing jump into the sea, watering the plants in the evening, long nights with twinkling stars, fireflies and the cicadas' chants.
Autum
Harvest time, preserving many kilos of fruits and vegetables, at last again going for long walks with the dogs in the daytime, because their only desire during the summer heat was to snooze lazy in the shadow, campfires at mild nights, resuming the work of the last month, making new plans
